Its always good news to read about a Centenarian or two and find they are still playing bingo. Sarah Richardson of Leeds just reached the BIG 100 Milestone. She was born when Britain manufactured their first automobile and George V took to the throne but she still does her own housework and goes out to her weekly lunch club where she plays bingo. Apparently her cousin is 107! Ada Morris also celebrated her centenary and she plays bingo three times a week. Have you ever wondered what happens when the Queen turns 100, does she send herself a Queens Congratulations letter?
It was all go for Britain’s’ Got Talent hopefuls this week in Glasgow but what has this got to do with bingo? Well firstly Mecca Bingo is their official partner and bingo worker come drag artist “Barbie Buckfast” had Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and David Hasselhoff rolling in the aisles. He joked he had intended to bring Simon Cowell a pair of boxers and tell him that he left them in his bed last night but his plans were scuppered as Cowell has quit the show. He/she may be worth looking out for, is there a new Danny La Rue in the making?
In more bingo news nothing surprises me more than this as a headline “Legalised US Online Gambling to Create New Online Bingo Boom”. What a crock of old rubbish. According to the article this legislation is incipient for 2011. If you read and believe this you may also believe that pigs can fly. So far online poker is the only gambling activity online that has passed any legislation and only in one state, New Jersey and is only for the residents of NJ! Towards the end of 2010 online poker rooms pulled out of Washington State as this activity was formerly made a crime. The US is totally split and the only reason why online poker is being considered a possibility is because pundits are fighting a hard battle to have it reclassified as a game of skill. There is no potential “Boom” for bingo online in the offering for the US currently.
