If you think the ‘King of Bingo’ is Barbara Windsor’s husband which is understandable, considering her surname – it is time to put on your thinking cap again. The actual King of Bingo in the UK is a man who made his fortune, with a world-beating business idea. This was Wearside businessman Frank Cronin, who thanks to hard work and a little divine intervention, he decided to make bingo cards his business. This was back in the 1950′s and within just a few years he became a world-leading bingo card supplier.

Frank had continued in his father’s footsteps with the small family-owned firm of Edward Thompson, stationary and printing, on a small scale. He was also a schoolboy maths whizz who took this intelligence as far as a Global business success. He has written a book with an incredibly appropriate title, appropriate in relationship to bingo as well as the fact that Frank Cronin was good with numbers – the title is; “Good With Numbers”, what else could it be?

According to the King of Bingo, “there has been great fun in my life,” he has “enjoyed every minute of it’ and has “never been bored”. We are sure that many people who have been and are in the British bingo business would completely agree. I have been writing about bingo for years and I have never run out of things to write about yet and I can’t say I have ever been bored, a little weary sometimes, but never bored. LOL!

Biographer, Nigel Watson, who penned the story said – “it explores the extraordinary story of a remarkable man and the business he built against the odds.” He also agrees that bingo is a brilliant game that has brought so much pleasure to so many people and the King of Bingo was one of the men who made it all possible. If you are looking for a Christmas gift for the bingo lover in your life, this book might make a very good read.
