New Meaning to Bingo Burns the House Down

Speculation is rife as another empty UK Bingo Club burns to the ground for the 6th time – is there is a connection? There have been a number of fires reported – strangely enough – in buildings which once housed bingo halls. The most recent located in Shirebrook saw fire-fighters called out to douse the flames burning down the house, as the ex-bingo club burned to the ground. This building started life as a theatre, a Cinema and as a bingo club which closed its doors in 2004. It has been vacant ever since.

The burning Empire on Thickley Close (built in 1910) required firefighting crews from both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, at about 6am in the morning. Apparently this is the sixth such incident at the same site in recent years. A fire investigation officer is seeking some answers now and two other similar fires in former bingo clubs, have taken place in various part of the country – hence the reason why the fires are being treated with suspicion.

In other eerie bingo club news, strange happenings have been reported in a Rosehill MeccaBingo Hall. These have prompted a group of ghost-hunting gamers to hold a spine chilling séance at the club, making news which has hit local headlines. This is a Grade II Listed building; built in 1930 and the mystery involves a rather elusive character who has become to be known as the ‘Grey Man. The group of ghost-busting bingo fans used a crystal ball… no, not a bingo ball… to try and contact the ghoul. As rumour has it, unexplained sounds have been heard and a bright light has been seen to move quickly in an arc shape. Much to their shock and surprise and despite some blatant skepticism, members of the group are convinced that they have made contact with wandering spirits haunting these hallowed halls.
