On Friday just gone, there was a humungous, ginormous, massive Euromillions lottery win and lottery administrator – Camelot – has confirmed that the winner has come forward and claimed their £101 million prize. It makes me sick just to think about it – talk about butterflies in my tummy! The identity of the winner has not been revealed and speculation is rife, regarding whether the winner was a syndicate or not. The lucky numbers were 18, 26, 34, 38 and 42, with lucky stars 05 and 08! Regardless of who or how many won, they will no doubt remember these numbers eternally and be eternally grateful.
JUST THINK £101 MILLION! Oh, my … this is where I wish I could insert a swear word?
This prize is nearly a record breaker, being the third largest prize ever handed out in UK lottery history. A single anonymous ticket holder won an incredible £113 million in October 2010; while Scottish couple Colin and Chris Weir are still the biggest Euromillions winners ever. They walked away with a mind-boggling amount of £161 million in July.
If the winner from Friday’s draw should happen to be an individual, they will also instantly become the 702nd richest person in the UK. Their new-found fortune will place them just slightly ahead in the ‘richest’ stakes, of music legend David Bowie. Wowie, what a place to be?
A Camelot spokesperson said they were ‘absolutely delighted’; they have the champagne on ice and are eagerly anticipating welcoming the ticket-holder into one of the most elite memberships in the land – the ‘National Lottery millionaires club’. British lottery players have had a very good run of luck recently on this game, with 15 jackpot winners during the past two years, who have banked a whopping £725million in total! Just last week an ASDA staff syndicate shared £6.8million.
